Johanna Bockman is Associate Professor of Sociology and Global Affairs. She received her Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of California, San Diego in 2000. Her research focuses on globalization, neoliberalism, economic sociology, socialism and postsocialism. She has conducted interviews with economists in Croatia, Hungary, Italy, Serbia, Slovenia, and the United States, and archival research in Hungary, Italy, Serbia, and the United States. She is now working on socialist and non-capitalist globalization. As part of this project, she is examining Yugoslav connections with South America (Chile and Peru in particular) and the 1980s debt crisis. She teaches courses in globalization studies, economic sociology, and sociological theory.
